• This ceiling fan cannot be installed flush to the ceiling as the downrod is an integral part of the mounting system. A flush-mount installation system is different from downrod fans. If you prefer a flush-mount ceiling fan, please select one that specifically states flush mount.
• "Flush mounting” means the motor is flush with the ceiling. For this particular fan, instead of being truly “flush”, it can be “close mounted” to give the appearance of flush mounting. The downrod can be removed and the motor will be attached to the canopy, providing about 3 inches of clearance between the ceiling and the motor. At the end of the day, this is all just ceiling fan terminology. When looking at the fan from below, it will appear as if the fan is extremely close to (if not right against) the ceiling. Please explain this to the guest – the manual will say that the fan cannot be flush mounted but close mounting gives off the appearance of being flush.
