Indonesian parasite wood carvings come from a parasitic plant, a growth that embeds itself into the bark of a chinaberry tree and gets its nourishment from the sap of the tree. These parasite growths are so hard and dense that they don't decay when the tree dies and rots away. The growths are then gathered and carved into beautiful creatures by master Indonesian artisans.
