This Temple Flagstaff, also known as Kodimaram Dwajastambham, is an important part of all Hindu temples. Dwajasthambam is a long pillar-like structure that has three horizontal perches on top. These perches face the Garbhagriha and are equipped with little bells that generate delightful noises when the wind blows. Mekhala or Mekalai refers to these three interwoven horizontal perches. Sthapati's are specialized persons who set the height of the Kodimaram. After that, the carving and traditional motifs are applied to the Kidimaram. The Dhwajastambham's base material might be wood, brass, or copper. The hardwood Dwajasthambham can be painted with sheets of brass, copper, pure silver, or pure gold. They are revered and handled with respect.
