Features

• In fact it is as if She is caught in the midst of profound samadhi (yogic contemplation). As the rare femaleBodhisattva, She is depicted wearing a five-spired crown on Her head and a necklace of divinely glittering jewels about Her neck. Also, in keeping with the traditionaliconographyof Buddhsit deities, from Her karna (ears) cascade kundalas (danglers) so substantial that they graze the undulation of Her clavicles. This is a sign of wisdom; nay, omniscience. In the mask composition that you see on this page, these aspects of the Devi have been executed with perfect symmetry and unflinching attention to detail.
• Such a work of art would be a valuable addition to the home of the truly devoted. You may consecrate it and hang it up on the wall at your altar or, given how fine a sculpture this is, use it as a visualisation aid to enrich your personal sadhana.
