This is probably one of the most unique idols of Lord Ganesha available in present times. The difference of this Ganesha statue with others can be attributed to the method in which it is made, that is, Dhokra Brass Casting. Dhokra is a metal casted art that uses the ancient lost-wax casting technique, the same technique that was used in making the popular dancing girl figurine from Mohenjo-Daro. At present, it is mainly practised in tribal pockets including Chattisgarh and West Bengal. They usually make use of flat motifs or thin-walled hollow containers or figurines in the making process which explains the distinctive shape and size of the figures.
