Goddess Andal, “the sole female Alvar among South India’s twelve Hindu poet-saints”, is revered as an avatar of Goddess Bhudevi. Affiliated with the Sri Vaishnava tradition, She authored two significant Tamil works - “Thiruppavai” and “Nachiar Tirumozhi”, recited during the “Margazhi festival”. Depicted in a “Tribhanga posture” on a lotus pedestal, Goddess Andal is adorned in regal attire. A floral garland, and ornate jewellery grace her divine form. Holding a lotus with a perched parrot, Goddess Andal symbolises grace, beauty, purity, prosperity and devotion. Crafted using the ancient “Madhuchista Vidhana (Lost-Wax) technique” in Panchaloha bronze from “Swamimalai”, this mesmerising creation encapsulates the essence of devotion and the auspicious connection between the divine and the mortal.
