Hanuman is the eleventh manifestation of Shiva and so shares most of the qualities of Rudra. For instance, he is intelligent, bountiful and as brilliant as the sun, shining like gold. He is invoked for protection against all obstacles, evils and malevolent influences. In this gigantic brass image, Hanuman sits with his right knee bent inwards and the left hand resting on the other raised knee. His right hand is held aloft in abhaya mudra. He wears a short lion cloth (langoti) & an angocha is thrown over his shoulders. He wears a magnificent crown and other ornaments. Beneath his numerous necklaces runs the sacred thread the yagnopavita.Hanuman's human body is shown with supple limbs. Humility, devotion and self-sacrifice is writ large on his simian face. The expression on the face produces a strange emotional effect and conveys a feeling of astonishing power.
