This brass statue is a manifestation of the Goddess of Light or Deeplakshmi. This statue, enameled in a Lacquer finish of deep brown and gold, stands on a lotus pedestal, signifying her role as the patron of wisdom, an attribute associated with the lotus. Her iconography resembles the Chola bronzes, and the Kirita Mukuta or headgear confirms the same. She wears elaborate ornamentation and is considered the symbol of richness and opulence; the Makara Kundala or earrings and the mekhala or waistband are examples of the same. She stands in a tribhanga posture and exudes the glow of the auspiciousness of Deeplakshmi. This status has been a part of the ritualistic lighting system in South Indian temples and carries the old-world charm.
