Kumari Handmade Decorative Object

Working with crocodile wood, Balinese artisan Nyoman Subrata creates this magnificent pair of sculptures. The statuettes depict male and female dancers in traditional costumes and pose. Janger dance is a popular form of social dance that originated in the 1920s in Bali. The dance is performed by a group of male dancers, or kecak, and a group of female dancers. The artisan's hand paints the two sculptures in great detail.
