I searched extensively for a non-wood product that actually looked like real wood and was substantial. This is it. Installation was a breeze if you’re handy with a drill and saw. We used our old 3x3 mail post (with the mailbox support removed) and this post slid right over it. Saved us the step of having to sink a new post into cement, which was huge. The best mailbox post I’ve found during a 2 month arduous search for a high quality piece. Most of the decorative posts I came across in my search were as thin as a milk jug, but not this one. It’s made from a solid PPE-vinyl material that’s evenly colored the same throughout its thickness. (I had to trim 38” from the mailbox mounting plate, so I saw for myself. I included a picture of the scrap piece). It’s SUPER sturdy, has a smooth surface, and cleaning requires a damp cloth, a spray of all purpose cleaner at worst. It’s also beautiful in person…I especially like the little brass plaque with the company name! I chose to have that side showing above the mailbox so the mailman sees every day lol. I think it adds a nice personal touch that other brands don’t bother with. The other ones I found of this quality were several hundred dollars more, and many of them were simply coated or painted wood, needing annual touch up and maintenance. Many were also made to order, and required a 6-8 week wait and 200-250 shipping). ***Tip the instructions state that two bags of concrete are needed, but I found that it only needed one, like every other post I’ve installed. In my opinion, one can save themselves the money and backache by using one bag of quick setting. (QuikCrete sells it in the red bag). Don’t forget that you’ll need a few inches of gravel underneath the concrete for drainage. There are plenty of YouTube videos on post installations.) The Stainless Steel Secondary Combustion Attachments for the Urban Fire Collection by YardCraft come in three sets that fit The Farrier, The Anvil, and The Vulcan. These attachments cover the air slots. The air pulled into the intake gets super-heated inside the attachment. When it is expelled through the holes at the top of the attachment, providing the top of the flames with a fresh air source, the smoke is reignited, thinning it out. This creates a cleaner atmosphere around your fire. They also protect those slots from leaking or getting clogged by ashes. The attachments also help minimize bowing of the steel as it expands and contracts with the heat. Fire Pit is sold separately.

This is a nice sturdy fire pit, but it was not fun to put together. They advertise that you can take it apart for easy travel, but good luck with that!
