This is a beautiful piece. . . if you have a butler and want filtered water delivered in this carafe on a tray to your desk, or with your meal at bedside, or to quench your thirst while engrossed in a book in the library. It doesn't not serve as a vessel for water to reach for in the dark, when waking up in the night. Much too delicate for that! I do not recommend this for anyone who does not have a butler. It’s a high quality product - I gave it as a gift to my son, ordered online without seeing it. Son says it’s fairly delicate looking and he’ll only use them with company b/c he’s concerned they’ll break easily. Also, I thought the bottom design feature was solid glass, giving the glass some stability (it’s a tall, narrow Pilsner style glass) …. but it’s an open design at the bottom which is one of the reasons son thinks it’s delicate.
