Much care is taken in the carving and finishing of a product, and this same care is extended to the selection, maintenance and delivery of these fabulous one-of-a-kind sculptures. Carved from a single piece, these wood animals are beautifully polished and carefully crafted.

These meerkats are super cute and they bring a smile to my face every day. The wood is lightweight and they have a slight "rough hewn" look to them. I'm only giving them 4 stars because my small meerkat was completely missing his face, which did not fall off during shipping - it was shipped broken. So I did have to jump through a couple of hoops with the online customer service chat to resolve. Giraffes are known throughout Africa for their natural curiosity. Twiza is the name for giraffe in the language of the Shona people of Zimbabwe. An old African folktale tells of God speaking to his newly created animals as to their purpose on earth. As God spoke to Twiza, she stretched her neck to heaven to hear more clearly. God was pleased and gave her a long, elegant neck so she could reach the leaves of the tallest trees - and as a sign to others that extra effort is rewarded.

These beautiful baskets are made in the remote Binga district of Northern Zimbabwe - home to the displaced Tonga people. Today, many Tonga women utilize traditional weaving techniques to create intricately patterned baskets. Tonga baskets are woven using the over and under style of weaving and a 16 inch diameter basket can take around 2 weeks to complete. The baskets are finished using a coiled rim with a distinctive herringbone pattern. The largest sized bowls are still used by the Tonga people for their original purpose of winnowing grains. Also known as "Ukama" or "Loving Family", these Shona pieces are one of the most popular emerging African art forms. The figures show many family members all merging together at various points, symbolizing the unity and shared spirit of the family unit.
