We however are fortunate to live in an era when NUT can adorn our own little castles; a powerful symbol of our exquisite breeding. We can thank the brilliant Marivi Calvo and Ray Power for their valor and insight. Long may they reign supreme.

Tracing the curvaceous path of an interplanetary body, orbit threatens to undermine everything we thought we knew about astrophysics. Miguel Herranz, a designer who walks among us, has tapped into the strange, elliptical trajectory, releasing waves of unadulterated exquisiteness and elegance. We can but hope the space-time continuum is capable of containing such bliss.

Beautiful light that I tried desperately to return to Wayfair. I had no idea that the $450 light is non-refundable. I'm sure it said it somewhere along the way in my order but I was shocked when I wasnt able to return and Wayfair was 0% help. Ivory White

With its thoughtful air, the ovalesque Orbit light will decorate any wall with quiet self-assurance. Created by Spanish designer Miguel Herranz, Orbit is an unfussy lamp whose shape is handmade by twisting a piece of wood veneer. Two designs are feasible, depending on the direction of torsion—that is how the wood veneer is twisted. Light from the Orbit is diffused both upwards and downwards via its two apertures and an inner glow radiates outwards, accentuating the beauty of the timber veneer grain. In essence, just as the earth is in orbit around the sun, light is in orbit around the Orbit.

Voliere is a contemporary reinterpretation of a classic 1920s art deco chandelier. With its nod to elegant French art deco lighting design, Voliere’s intricately layered wood veneer elements are arranged in the manner of feathery plumes. Composed by Bodo Sperlein, Voliere showcases the designer’s appreciation of craft and materiality. This sculptural lamp’s feather-like sections offer a unique perspective when viewed from different angles. Due to the carefully considered structure and materials, the Voliere is lightweight in design and authentically reflects the feather decor. Voliere brings a touch of 1920s glamour to contemporary interiors.

The Gea Suspension will also make a striking lighting cluster, especially when combining different sizes. The Gea Small and Large Suspension lamps use a traditional E27 lightbulb and incorporate a matt satin acrylic diffuser. I have used this piece before a few times. The design is simply beautiful, the quality is sublime. This piece is from Spain, imported...and the packing is unbelievable. the light glows through the wood veneer, making for a striking visual effect. All of there products are pieces of artwork. STITCHES, THE EMBROIDERED LIGHT. Egbert-Jan Lam of Netherlands-based Burojet Design Studio created the ‘embroidered’ Stitches family of lamps. Called Mopti, Tombuctú, Djenné and Bamako—after towns and cities in the West African nation of Mali—each lamp has its own distinct pattern. To make an individual lamp, veneer lengths are crafted in a traditional sewing fashion: the pattern is marked out, cut and then repeated. Where hemming is normally used to complete a garment, the Stitches lamp has a visible hemstitch through which light radiates. The unique shape of each Stitches lamp is an allusion to the adobe mosques found across Mali. Moreover, the Stitches lamps embody Mali’s long history as a producer of embroidery.

The Pipe Pendant casts a quietly sculptural glow, turning the familiar shape of a plumbing pipe into something unexpectedly poetic. Crafted from ceramic with metal details, its twin rounded openings echo the idea of light emerging from darkness—an industrial-leaning gesture that still feels at home in contemporary spaces.

Estela is a captivating capsule of light. In Estela, Mayice designed a clean, clear, single piece of borosilicate glass. Hand-blown by the accomplished artisan Eduardo Garuti, the glass envelopes a cylinder-like wood veneer diffuser. The wood veneer houses a dimmable LED light source, and a straight opening on one side emits downward light that is softened by the glass. Offering a seamless connection between both glass and wood, Estela is a radiant lamp with a celestial-like quality. Similar to Dune, Estela’s natural imperfections, a characteristic of hand-blown glass, add to its warmth and elegance. Each lamp is signed by the artisan, Eduardo Garuti. Estela is now available in a vertical formation with three sizes: 100 cm, 60cm, and 40cm.

LOLA, LOLA, THE PIQUANT LIGHT Lola is the latest lamp for LZF designed by long-time collaborator Ray Power. Showcasing Power’s ability to create imaginative three-dimensional forms, Lola is a conical lamp with an intricate geometric pattern. A veritable labor of love, Lola’s shape went through many iterations, drawings and prototypes. The end result is, without doubt, a marvel of lighting design. A particularly piquant Spanish name, Lola is very much alive, sensuous and intriguing. In a domestic or contract setting, Lola is a lamp that attracts and pleases the eye. Highly original and truly sophisticated, Lola’s complex veneer construction is both accentuated and softened when illuminated. Available in a number of sizes and LZF’s range of natural wood colors, Lola is stimulating, fascinating, arresting and sparkling: an especially piquant light.

GUIJARROS, THE FAMILY LIGHT. Guijarros is a family of three pebble-like lights, each one perfect for use on a wall or ceiling. Designed by Mariví Calvo, the Guijarro lamps were inspired by fine shingle: small, smooth and rounded pebbles whose individual shapes have been carved over many years by water and sand. A tiny wonder of nature, every pebble exhibits its own colour, contours and form. With three different sizes and a choice of wood veneer finishes, the Guijarro lights are especially eye-catching when displayed in a group formation. Just as pebbles live in harmony, the Guijarros present a strong sense of oneness.

Natural Cherry, Gold

Designed by Ramón Esteve, Black Note is an architectural lamp whose perpendicular shades rise and fall in harmony. Black Note’s rhythmic arrangement is inspired by a piano’s black keys, their sharps and flats used to add a dramatic effect. The Black Note Triplet Floor lamp places three upright wood veneer shades at varying heights on a metal stand. This lamp is immediately appealing in any space, having a characteristic poise. Black Note Triplet Floor is available in four three veneers: Natural Cherry, Ivory White and Natural Beech. Its metal finishes are Matt Black and Gold.

After a collaboration of more than ten years, Dandelion is Burkhard Dämmer’s latest contribution to LZF.Dandelion can be considered as one single lamp or a combination of lamps. Inside, every shade several LED circuits are hidden, which can be lit all at once or by sections to meet the requirements of the room and the time of day. Outside, the LZF wood veneer enfolds every geometrical shape, like cones sinking at different depths into the heart of Dandelion.The result is a very original lamp, a geometric puzzle of light which resembles one of the most basic forms of life.

MARUJA, THE DO-IT-YOURSELF LAMP. An original self-assembly pendant, Maruja was designed by the fresh-faced Gazpacho Studio—it is LZF’s first flat-pack fixture. A contemporary lamp, Maruja’s design is simultaneously unfussy and decorative. Maruja is a name whose origins lie in Galicia, and signifies both femininity and strength. The do-it-yourself Maruja is packaged with all the components needed to assemble the lamp: wood veneer strips (in several sizes), a circular frame, and pins. Maruja is easily constructed, without the need for any tools or adhesives. Using a pin, each wooden strip is clipped onto the circular frame—insert a light bulb, and you will have created an elegant, handmade lamp. The wood veneer strips hang and move freely, and when illuminated, Maruja sparkles with life.

Designed by MUT, Lens is a family of circular and oval lamps whose wood veneer shades diffuse light, while framing an aperture or mirror. With Lens, MUT crafted an original lamp that is both balanced and effortless, with a fluent design. The Lens Circular Wall is a cosy light with a central mirror. The wood veneer shade diffuses a soft light, while the mirror reflects a glimpse of the lamp’s surroundings. The Lens Circular Wall is available in the following wood veneers: Natural Cherry, Ivory White, Natural Beech, Yellow, Orange, Red, Blue, Grey, Pale Rose, and Sea Blue. Designed by Ramón Esteve, Black Note is an architectural lamp whose perpendicular shades rise and fall in harmony. Black Note’s rhythmic arrangement is inspired by a piano’s black keys, their sharps and flats used to add a dramatic effect. The rhythmic arrangement of eight upright wood veneer shades on the Black Note Keys Suspension lamp achieve a striking silhouette. Combining wood veneer and a trim metal structure, this contemporary lamp is both sharp and impressive. Black Note Keys is available in three wood veneers: Natural Cherry, Ivory White y Natural Beech. Omma is an inventive lamp, like a tree with fluttering leaves full of light. In Eli Gutierrez’s prepossessing design, it is almost possible to imagine the lamp’s movable wood veneer, artfully edged with metal, flapping in a gentle breeze.

Sea Blue

Dune is a sculptural light whose shape is intriguingly amorphous. Designed by Madrid-based Mayice, Dune is a single piece of hand-blown borosilicate glass, enveloping a wood veneer diffuser with a seedpod-like opening on one side. The glass is hand-blown by Eduardo Garuti, an accomplished artisan. With mastery and great dexterity, Garuti is able to reveal the natural beauty found in glass. Dune’s distinctive shape is made up of two symmetrical ends, and an irregular, bulb-shaped centre. The wood veneer diffuser houses the lamp’s dimmable LED light source, and downward light from the seedpod-like opening is softened by the glass. Each Dune lamp is unique: the beauty found in the imperfection of hand-blown glass, with its almost wabi-sabi quality, ensures Dune is like a piece of art. Indeed, each lamp is signed by the artisan, Eduardo Garuti. Is now available in a striking vertical version.

White

Estela is a captivating capsule of light. In Estela, Mayice designed a clean, clear, single piece of borosilicate glass. Hand-blown by the accomplished artisan Eduardo Garuti, the glass envelopes a cylinder-like wood veneer diffuser. The wood veneer houses a dimmable LED light source, and a straight opening on one side emits downward light that is softened by the glass. Offering a seamless connection between both glass and wood, Estela is a radiant lamp with a celestial-like quality. Similar to Dune, Estela’s natural imperfections, a characteristic of hand-blown glass, add to its warmth and elegance. Each lamp is signed by the artisan, Eduardo Garuti. Estela is now available in a vertical formation with three sizes: 100 cm, 60cm, and 40cm.
