We however are fortunate to live in an era when NUT can adorn our own little castles; a powerful symbol of our exquisite breeding. We can thank the brilliant Marivi Calvo and Ray Power for their valor and insight. Long may they reign supreme.

The Agatha Ball is the clever coalescence of two Agatha Small lamps, with its whorls of wood veneer strips appearing like a captivating ball of light. Was it Murder on the Orient Express, or Death on the Nile that captured the imagination of designer Luis Eslava? Whatever the case, he became enamoured with novelist Agatha Christie, and chose to celebrate her murder-mystery tomes with this equally mysterious lamp named in her honour. And while Christie weaves an intriguing tale, Eslava has woven a captivating piece of light-art that asks us only one curly question: Was it the butler?

Natural Beech

Estela is a captivating capsule of light. In Estela, Mayice designed a clean, clear, single piece of borosilicate glass. Hand-blown by the accomplished artisan Eduardo Garuti, the glass envelopes a cylinder-like wood veneer diffuser. The wood veneer houses a dimmable LED light source, and a straight opening on one side emits downward light that is softened by the glass. Offering a seamless connection between both glass and wood, Estela is a radiant lamp with a celestial-like quality. Similar to Dune, Estela’s natural imperfections, a characteristic of hand-blown glass, add to its warmth and elegance. Each lamp is signed by the artisan, Eduardo Garuti. Estela is now available in a vertical formation with three sizes: 100 cm, 60cm, and 40cm.

Designed by Ray Power, Lola showcases the designer’s ability to create imaginative three-dimensional forms. Lola is a conical lamp with an intricate geometric pattern. A veritable labour of love, Lola’s shape went through many iterations, drawings and prototypes, before arriving at the finished form. A particularly piquant Spanish name, Lola is very much alive, sensuous, and intriguing. An avant-garde lamp, Lola’s complex woven veneer construction is beautifully accentuated when lit. The textural pattern of Lola’s woven wood veneer shade comes alive in the Lola Suspension lamp. Lola’s unique construction is testament to the skill of LZF’s craftspeople. The Lola Suspension is available in Ivory White or Natural Beech wood veneers. The metal canopy is available in Matt Nickel.

Matte Black, Natural Cherry

Omma is an inventive lamp, like a tree with fluttering leaves full of light. In Eli Gutierrez’s prepossessing design, it is almost possible to imagine the lamp’s movable wood veneer, artfully edged with metal, flapping in a gentle breeze.

This new proposal by Irish designer Ray Power creates a domino circle caught in a constant state of gravity defiant falling.

Designed by MUT, Lens is a family of circular and oval lamps whose wood veneer shades diffuse light, while framing an aperture or mirror. With Lens, MUT crafted an original lamp that is both balanced and effortless, with a fluent design. The Lens Circular Wall is a cosy light with a central mirror. The wood veneer shade diffuses a soft light, while the mirror reflects a glimpse of the lamp’s surroundings. E26/Medium (Standard), Ivory White

To make an individual lamp, veneer lengths are crafted in a traditional sewing fashion: the pattern is marked out, cut, and then repeated. Where hemming is normally used to complete a garment, the Stitches lamp has a visible hemstitch through which light radiates. The unique shape of each lamp is an allusion to the adobe mosques found across Mali. Moreover, the Stitches lamps embody Mali’s long history as a producer of embroidery.

Totem is a veritable feast for the senses, a light whose proportions enliven a space with dramatic effect. Envisaged by designers Mariví Calvo and Burkhard Dämmer, Totem evolved from the clever amalgamation of Dämmer’s Pod and Poppy pendants. A sublime lighting structure, Totem has the emblematic air of a sacred object, a light whose shape and spirit are reflected in cultures worldwide. Available in three stacked variations, the Totem pendant diffuses warm light through the gaps in its wood veneer strips. As a physical entity, Totem’s presence is impressive. Just as important, its spiritual quality is entirely unreserved.

Graceful and stylistically innovative, the New Wave pendant is well formed, effortless and free-flowing. Designed by Ray Power, the New Wave’s lines bend and curve, accentuating its shapely form. New Wave comprises two interlocking interior and exterior wood veneer panels. Differing in colour to the exterior panel, the interior panel’s edge juts out, creating a clever design feature that enhances the New Wave’s profile. The resulting composition is well-proportioned and fluid, giving the New Wave a smooth, free-flowing countenance.

After a collaboration of more than ten years, Dandelion is Burkhard Dämmer’s latest contribution to LZF.Dandelion can be considered as one single lamp or a combination of lamps. Inside, every shade several LED circuits are hidden, which can be lit all at once or by sections to meet the requirements of the room and the time of day. Outside, the LZF wood veneer enfolds every geometrical shape, like cones sinking at different depths into the heart of Dandelion.The result is a very original lamp, a geometric puzzle of light which resembles one of the most basic forms of life.

The Cuad’s wood veneer cuboid shape recalls the spirit of midcentury modern style with understated elegance. MARUJA, THE DO-IT-YOURSELF LAMP. An original self-assembly pendant, Maruja was designed by the fresh-faced Gazpacho Studio—it is LZF’s first flat-pack fixture. A contemporary lamp, Maruja’s design is simultaneously unfussy and decorative. Maruja is a name whose origins lie in Galicia, and signifies both femininity and strength. The do-it-yourself Maruja is packaged with all the components needed to assemble the lamp: wood veneer strips (in several sizes), a circular frame, and pins. Maruja is easily constructed, without the need for any tools or adhesives. Using a pin, each wooden strip is clipped onto the circular frame—insert a light bulb, and you will have created an elegant, handmade lamp. The wood veneer strips hang and move freely, and when illuminated, Maruja sparkles with life.

First presented in 1995, the Romanica series illustrates the origin of LZF Lamps, a collection made exclusively with reconstructed wood diffusers. The simple cylindrical form of Romanica highlights the natural beauty of the woodgrain and handcraft, and is offered in six sizes of suspension and wall mounted fixtures.

Orange, GX53 Base

GUIJARROS, THE FAMILY LIGHT. Guijarros is a family of three pebble-like lights, each one perfect for use on a wall or ceiling. Designed by Mariví Calvo, the Guijarro lamps were inspired by fine shingle: small, smooth and rounded pebbles whose individual shapes have been carved over many years by water and sand. A tiny wonder of nature, every pebble exhibits its own colour, contours and form. With three different sizes and a choice of wood veneer finishes, the Guijarro lights are especially eye-catching when displayed in a group formation. Just as pebbles live in harmony, the Guijarros present a strong sense of oneness.

DANDELION, THE RADIANT LIGHT. Bearing a resemblance to its flowering namesake, Burkhard Dämmer’s large Dandelion suspension lamp is a radiant composite of many single florets. Independent and distinct, each funnel-shaped floret appears to shine alone, yet en masse they create the Dandelion’s sparkle. The florets are made using LZF’s wood veneer and then placed side by side, where they rise and fall in tandem from the Dandelion’s centre. The effect is striking, with every funnel of light coalescing in one collective and brilliant whole. The Dandelion pendant was the recipient of the prestigious German Design Award 2017.

Designed by Mariví Calvo, Gea is a classic example of a lamp whose form is thoroughly unpretentious. ESCAPE, THE ASSURED LIGHT. Escape is an avant-garde pendant with a smart domino-like structure. Its self-supporting veneer panels give the impression of falling into a ring of light, their form defying gravity. Designed by Ray Power, Escape is a truly handsome, self-assured light. While enjoying a little bit of swagger and appearing fairly pleased with itself, the Escape pendant’s manner is bright and buoyant. Moreover, Escape is entirely affable, having an approachable quality that is perfect for any well turned out setting.

Sea Blue, White, 5.9" H x 29.5" W x 29.5" D

Op art (optical art) developed in the 1960s as an artistic style that used geometric shapes to generate optical illusions. With a nod to the genre, designer Remedios Simón created Spiro, a charismatic pendant whose frame contains a mass of irregular wood veneer spirals. Designed by Mariví Calvo, the Guijarro lamps were inspired by fine shingle: small, smooth and rounded pebbles whose individual shapes have been carved over many years by water and sand. A tiny wonder of nature, every pebble exhibits its own colour, contours and form. With three different sizes and a choice of wood veneer finishes, the Guijarro lights are especially eye-catching when displayed in a group formation. Designed by Burkhard Dämmer, I-Club epitomises the use of clean lines in good design. The symmetrical beauty of this lamp is evident across each of its forms. Available as a Short or Long lighting fixture, the I-Club Slim Suspension has the option of a black or white top diffuser (black preventing any upward light), and a matt satin acrylic bottom diffuser. This sharp and elegant lamp is especially ideal for any environment requiring directional, downward lighting, for example, above a desk or kitchen surface. The I-Club Slim Suspension is also striking when arranged in a uniform formation. Dune is a sculptural light whose shape is intriguingly amorphous. Designed by Madrid-based Mayice, Dune is a single piece of hand-blown borosilicate glass, enveloping a wood veneer diffuser with a seedpod-like opening on one side. The glass is hand-blown by Eduardo Garuti, an accomplished artisan. With mastery and great dexterity, Garuti is able to reveal the natural beauty found in glass. Dune’s distinctive shape is made up of two symmetrical ends, and an irregular, bulb-shaped centre. The wood veneer diffuser houses the lamp’s dimmable LED light source, and downward light from the seedpod-like opening is softened by the glass. Each Dune lamp is unique: the beauty found in the imperfection of hand-blown glass, with its almost wabi-sabi quality, ensures Dune is like a piece of art. Indeed, each lamp is signed by the artisan, Eduardo Garuti. Is now available in a striking vertical version.
