I wish the wood was one solid slab as opposed to five pieces pressed together, but for the price it has a nice look. The feet you screw on to the bottom make the table look like it's hovering, but you can easily not put them on and have the legs/base pretty flush to the group. I love this desk, it has a beautiful finish, sturdy and having real wood is the best. For 34 inches this holds my 17 inch laptop and mouse pad just fine with plenty of room behind it for other things you need. It looks as pictured. When the drawer is facing the sofa, the back of the drawer cannot be seen, so it looks really sleek and clean from the other side. My only disappointment is that the top is finished in a matte acrylic. I'm sure it was done to help protect it from spills and such, but real wood (solid, no veneers) like this should have some shine to the surface. Up close, matte on real wood makes it look and feel (!) like Formica. It's still a really good deal for the money and we're happy with it. Oh, and oddly, the drawer itself is made from solid wood and has smooth-acting metal slides, which was a nice surprise. The originator knows how to box!
