The sound of gleeful toddlers and dogs frolicking around the home is maybe one of the most joyful sounds a parent gets to hear except when it isn't. Stop the rampage and contain those little balls of energy while keeping them safe at the same time with the safety gate. That makes this extra wide baby gate perfect for the tops or bottoms of stairs, or for kitchen or bedroom doors. You and your feet have enough to worry about with living room and nursery floors littered with toys, which is why this child safety gate comes without a hazardous threshold to trip over and why it features easy, 1 handed operation. Easily open and close it with 1 hand, even when your hands are full with babies or groceries.
I have purchased & installed 2 of these gates in the past 6 months. The quality of the gate is excellent. Where I see people having difficulty might be with the installation. Safety 1st have done an excellent job trying to make the install as easy as they can. But because it would most likely reside at the top of a staircase the installation of one side of the gate may be a problem due to shape of the top spindle. For one installation I ended up installing a piece of 1"x4"x32" piece of wood to span the height of the spindle groves. Then fastened one side of the gate to the installed piece of wood. This worked great for me. For the second installation, I also installed a piece of wood up the spindle length & mounted hinged side of the gate to it. The other side of the gate, the upright that the gate closes into, was a gyproc wall & of course a stud was not close. I used four 3/16" Snap Toggle bolts where the brackets would normally take the 4 metal screws provided by Safety 1st. I prefer using them when mounting items to gyproc. So my advice is to carefully read the instructions, & complete them one step at a time. Use a level to ensure the gate is straight vertically. Once you have completed the installation, as per all the steps in the instructions, then you can cut the plastic ties holding the Styrofoam & cardboard which are used to hold the gate together & at the right height to make the installation easier..
