Mortise locks are not for the faint of heart or average DIY (which is our household) Very little margin for error and if you have to replace it in the future, you’re buying a new unfinished door or doing a lot of patch work. I purchased four of these and they look really nice. They are average weight, but the design is beautiful. I removed a star for two reasons. The first is I really don’t like a silver key against a deep bronze door lock. To the sellers credit, it’s very obvious in the listing, but It ruins the vintage vibe. The good news is, each lock came with four keys. The second reason I removed a star is that I bought four of these, and the handle was dented in one right out of the package. This makes me think these may be a little delicate. Overall they are good value for the money and make a nice statement for doors that are mostly used for passage and not privacy.. Brooke.
