I’m a designer so I order a lot of high end furniture. This is probably the nicest quality piece of furniture that I’ve ever purchased. It is HEAVY. But it’s heavy because the posts are solid wood. Trained by the Hauge Academy of Art in the 1840’s Weissenbruch introduced his artistic career to the Royal Theatre by painting large-scale landscape scenery, and in 1847, Weissenbruch first exhibited at the Exhibition of Living Masters. His landscapes showed strong influences of romantic painters of previous generations, while this showing put Weissenbruch into the forefront of Dutch Romanticism, highlighting the striking beauty of the atmospheric landscapes around him. Working outdoors and following the latest trends of French painting, Weissenbruch considered Plein Air painting to be pivotal in truly capturing nature on canvas.
