When I first got this it felt like a thick, heavy table cloth; however, when I washed it the fabric became soft and seemingly lighter (oddly). I expected something even softer and lighter than what it is after the washing but this will do. I ordered a king but received a super king pique which is fine for me because it fits my queen bed like a quilt while being a single layer thick sheet kind-of-a cover, not like a tiny coverlet. The color is very, very close if not identical to the picture. I got rid of my thick quilt and replaced it with a thin one and this.
