The shell is soft 300 thread count cotton.Microfiber doesn't have the same insulating properties as down, so microfiber duvets are heavier weight. A fair bit of fill is required to achieve the desired warmth. One benefit of a synthetic duvet is that it can be machine washed at home, given your machine is quite large and you wash/dry on a low heat setting. Natural down and feather are sensitive to moisture, but polyester is not!

I dont think the size of the comforter is accurate. But other than that... it's not bad. I do get hot but I am also hot natured so I just remove the cover off, or stick a leg out. I was looking for a light weight down and this fit the bill. It was for a guest bedroom. Everyone sleep’s different, some cold and some hot. Now that it is summer I’ve folded and placed at the base of the bed to be pulled up if the air conditioning gets too cold. This last winter it was reversed, main coverage and the lighter weight bedspread for extra warmth. So far, so good for now. It looked flat when it came out, but I think you have to give it some days to fluff out. After that, I inserted a duvet cover that looks fluffy, and I like it. It keeps me balanced warm during the night. I have ac and it’s summer during the night. I cover half of my body, and it’s nice. It’s 90x88, so you can buy any standard duvet covers. This is a great comforter. It’s plush and super soft to the touch. It retains a lot of warmth at night without being heavy. Sometimes down filled products can have a weird smell but this doesn’t. The only thing I will say is it’s not bright white, it’s more of an off-white. I would have preferred bright white so it looks cleaner.
