Garments that would otherwise end up in a landfill are shredded, both cotton and polyester, and those shreds are spun into yarns. That yarn is then woven into fabric and used for the manufacture of these bed coverings. The perimeter seam is the only contact point between all three layers, the top, the fill, and the back. A thin layer of nonwoven sits atop the bat and the back and bat are stitched thru giving this piece the best features of a comforter and the appearance of a duvet. Upcycling these garments into usable and very functional pieces hugs our planet. We treasure that. Each package is sold as a three-piece set which includes the duvet comforter and two shams. The shams are open in the back for ease of fill. The duvet comforter fill is stitched in as it is launderable, so the fill never needs to be removed or replaced.

This quilt is quite lightweight. I would not recommend it to keep you warm in the winter but it is a perfect weight for Spring and Summer. I am using it in a small guest room. I can make it simple or elegant by changing pillow shams, adding couple of toss pillows, or changing the color of the candles in the room. The quilt is neutral in color and style so the possibilities are endless. I was concerned about how sturdy the georgette would be so I waited until after a couple of washings before submitting a review. My washer is small but the quilt fit in easily.
