The towels are a nice safe green color. They are thin. If you are looking for a nice, thick towel these are not for you. I did wash them before I used them and they did wash up well. I have used and washed them several times and they do wash up well. The bath towels are oversized and we do appappreciate that very much. They can get a bit stringy but I just cut the strings off..
