Living in central Texas makes for hot nights. This bedspread is perfect for this climate. It is lightweight, yet heavy enough to keep you warm on cool nights. Being 100 cotton makes it ideal if you sleep hot. It doesn’t trap bodyheat like polyester does. I recommend washing it before putting it on the bed. It has a LOT of lintfuzz from the embroidery. THE SMELL! COMFORTER SMELLS TERRIBLE! Like vinegar and potting soil. Washed it 3x but it was still palpably stinky. That said, this is probably the most comfortable, luxurious comforter ever, so we kept it, put up with it for the first few weeks. Within a month, the smell had fully passed, and no we just get to enjoy how comfortable it is. -1 star for the unfortunate initial smell, otherwise this would be a 5-star purchase.
