Just trim the panels with a utility knife and stick them on with a high-tack, solvent-free montage adhesive, the kind of multi-surface construction glue made for EPS wall panels, for a strong, long-lasting hold. The panels resist moisture and help soften sound and temperature swings, so the room feels a little cozier and quieter. Want a different shade? Paint them with water-based paint; avoid solvent-based paints, sprays and adhesives, since they can damage the foam. If you’re installing outdoors, we recommend a coat of UV-resistant, water-based varnish to keep the color fresh and help the panels last for years. Keep the room well ventilated while you work; a mild new-product smell is normal and fades quickly.
A quick note on heat: the panels look great on the wall around a fireplace, but keep them out of the firebox surround, away from stove pipes, and clear of open flames or direct heat sources like grills and heaters. Always follow the clearance your fireplace or stove manufacturer recommends. As with real stone, colors may vary slightly between batches and screens.
