Extremely happy with this fridge. Keeps same temperature (within +/- 1 degree) on all 15 shelves (!). And the shelves are actually large enough to comfortably hold 11 Bordeaux bottles each. I bought this Edgestar 166 Bottle fridge after returning the poorly designed 80 bottle Kalamera which had a large temperature range of 40-65 degrees from bottom to top, and would not even hold the advertised number of Bordeaux bottles.. After my Danby unit became inoperable after 12 years it was replaced by this 171 Empava Single zone wine cooler; it was on sale at Wayfair at a good price, and Empava appeared to have a good reputation. The appliance came in a very well packaged large sturdy box mounted on a wooden pallet. This unit isn’t quite as heavy and perhaps as sturdy as some similar competitor units, I attribute some of that to the shelves which are made of wood and not much heavier metal. The shelves are well made and easily hold 12 standard size bottles. There is sufficient room between the shelves so pulling a shelf out to retrieve a bottle isn’t an issue. The included “User Manual” should be called a “Useless Manual”. Almost all the points outlined are intuitive (brainless). A very important instruction has been omitted in the manual. The appliance must be in order to operate successfully be level. This is accomplished by adjusting the feet. All 4 are adjustable even though this isn’t stated in the manual nor are there instructions on how to level the appliance; which is not an easy task. After resting the unit for 48 hours after delivery it was plugged in and the cooling temperature set at 50. After operating for 3-4 days the inside temperature only went to 60. The cooling temperature was lowered to 40. After another week the temperature in upper space went down to 50 and in the bottom 42. This is a single zone appliance, both the upper section and lower section should be the same; This is unacceptable. I can not recommend this appliance; it does not function as advertised. UPDATE: After having the unit 85% full and operating for a month; the temperature is always off by 4 (bottom) to 8 degrees (up in top section) compared to the setting. Unacceptable for a single zone appliance. As previously noted the temperature in not consistent inside top to bottom? This is not a sturdy appliance. Now that it is 85% full when opening the door it shakes. Not happy, but also not worth the trouble of returning.. Anonymous. Florida. Sun Jun 02 2024

The delivery guys were great. Left the fridge to stand for 24 hrs before I turned it on. Seems to work pretty well so far though not 100% sure how accurate the temp is. As others have mentioned and common challenge with most wine fridges/cellars, the design works for Bordeaux bottles but its get awkward when you have other bottling like Rieslings, Burgundy etc .. removing shelves dramatically reduced the storage capacity - a better design would be to have adjustable (height) shelves instead.
