With arms upraised, she puts her hands together as though in prayer or celebration in a sculpture by Valcourt. She works in African sese wood to carve the stylized portrait, and adds the rich textures of embossed aluminum. She names her design Walayo, a Ga word which means "a woman who enjoys life."
I like the expressive feeling this statue represents!. Harriet. Houston, TX. Tue Oct 20 2020
