Hand-carved from native sese wood, this contemporary sculpture boasts extraordinary color textures. Hetty's design includes white clay for visual interest. She names the piece Dwenewoho. The word comes from the Akan people and means "think about yourself."

Hetty celebrates Shango with the staff-like design of this admirable sculpture. As the Yoruba god of storm and drumming, Shango is a benevolent deity who bangs on drums as well as play dance rhythms on his storm clouds. The sese wood sculpture is carved by hand featuring two expressive faces looking in opposite directions. Painted by hand, the sculpture is finished with white clay for an aged appearance.

By Hetty, this imposing mask depicts a long, slender personage who opens his mouth to sing. She carves and paints the original design by hand, naming it Ogyam, an Akan word which means "friend."
