We looked everywhere for an electric log set that would fit in the small firebox of our woodburning fireplace. Burning real wood isn’t practical in this 5th-floor condo in the city, but we love the ambiance and heat of a fire over the long Minnesota winter. We are extremely happy with this product so far! Since we have a snug firebox for the “flames” to project on, we chose not to attach the rear screen. The glowing coals and flames look pretty convincing in person, especially with the screen closed. We’ll have to use white tape to conceal the cord for now and eventually plan to hide it in a special track with the help of a carpenter coming to build our adjacent bookshelf units. We haven’t used the heating function yet since we’re current experiencing very hot summer weather, so can’t comment on that. Overall we’re just delighted with how this looks (more like a glowing coal basket, which we like, vs. “fake logs”) and how it’s allowing us to make use of this existing fireplace.
