It is sturdy enough for being this light but I wouldn't say this is a heavy duty and sturdy box that will take abuse such as sitting on it or kids jumping on it. We were seeking out a dry storage option for our smoker pellets. We wanted to store them outside instead of in my dining room. This box is the perfect solution. One e we figured out how the tabs worked, assembly went quickly and smoothly. We had this up and going in under 5 min. We have had some rain since we started using it. But so far, nice and dry. If I had the need I would buy another. They would be really cute lined up. While you could use this as a side table, I would sit in it for safety reasons.
