Our Louis Henry Sullivan Collection is inspired by the late American architect Louis Henry Sullivan, better known as the “Father of Skyscrapers”. The phrase “form follows function” was coined by Sullivan and is intricately displayed in our unique selection of hand-sewn luxury textiles. This collection displays subtle neutral hues contrasted by sharp geometric patterns, and pair effortlessly with modern designs and elements of natural wood and stone.

This Prairie-style design is inspired by architectural themed stained-glass windows from this popular era of architecture. The style emerged in Chicago around 1900. A group of young architects combined the ideals of the Arts & Crafts Movement with its emphasis on nature, craftsmanship & simplicity with the architectural theories of Louis Sullivan, which included distinctly American architecture rooted in nature and included modern elements such as flat lines and stylized ornamentation.

This design is inspired by a window designed by Louis Henry Sullivan, an American Architect who has been called the “father of modernism”.   The window is from a branch of the Farmers Merchant & Union Bank, Columbus, Wisconsin, 1919.  A design from an important architect and historic building, brought to life in products for today’s modern homes. Woven exclusively for Rennie & Rose, this is an extraordinary fabric with exceptional, rich colors and weaving.

This design is based on a half-round stained glass window that sits majestically above the entrance to the Farmers & Merchants Union Bank in Columbus, Wisconsin. Designed and built by Louis Henry Sullivan in 1919, this was the last of his “jewel box” designs. The jewel box nickname refers to the modern box shape of the building and its richly ornamented architecture and interior. The building was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976 for its architecture. A design from an important historic architectural giant brought to life for today’s modern homes with extraordinary weaving and depth of color
