Located on the Colorado Plateau, a bronze disk marks Four Corners, the only point in the United States shared by four states (Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah). The spot also marks the boundary of the Navajo Nation and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Reservation. The historic location inspired this blanket design, featuring repeated intersections in a traditional nine-element pattern.

First woven in the 1920s, this USA-made wool blanket has been one of Pendletons most popular designs ever since. Chief Joseph led the Nez Perce tribe native to northeastern Oregon in the late 1800s. Widely admired for protecting his people and speaking the truth, he is honored with this design, symbolizing bravery. Bold arrowheads represent the chief’s courage, strength and integrity. Reverses for two different looks. Woven in Pendletons Pacific Northwest mills and softly napped.

This intricate design celebrates the pioneering spirit of our founder, weaver Thomas L. Kay, who journeyed from England to America and arrived in Oregon in 1863. It is a tribute to the generations of weavers that have continued his legacy of quality and excellence. The original blanket was discovered recently in a 19th-century European mill and included the designer’s notes and calculations, handwritten neatly along the sides. Modern Pendleton designers viewed this historic work of art with reverence and used it as inspiration for Pendleton`s Journey West jacquard design. The pattern underlines the universal appeal of geometric shapes and lines. The hooked images seen inside the large diamonds are common symbols of luck and prosperity. This blanket, woven in our American mills, is robe size, the size preferred by Native Americans for ceremonial purposes and wrapping about oneself as a robe. Impressive as a wall hanging and practical when folded on a sofa or at the foot of a bed.
