I was trying to find the widest towel bar I could for the space I had to mount on, and this was the perfect size. Most towel bars come in 12" or 18" or 24" wide but I couldn't fit more than about 15-16 inches in the space I had so I appreciated the ability to get the most amount of width I could via the 15.75" width of this bar rather than having to settle for a 12" bar since the 18" one would have been too big.
