I purchased this item to actually install in my kitchen to hang plastic green vegetable bags to dry after I wash them to re-use. I can see how this item might not be strong enough for heavy wet clothing items but for my intent it is perfect and I think it would work fine for small garments if you figure out how to tighten the line. Overall this is a very cool gizmo and exactly what I needed. I do have some input on installing the decorative plate cover for the connection end. At first I thought the set screw was missing. The directions shows it as if the cover should come already attached to connector plate but mine was not. Then, I found the set screw tightened way inside the connector end piece. I took it out assuming that I would need to place the plate cover on first (like most set screws work in the USA anyway) but the set screw does not fit into the cover plate this way (see photo). After some thought my partner figured out that the set screw will hold the cover on if it presses on it from the inside. So we inserted the screw back into the connector plate, placed the decorative cover over it and then unwound the set screw until it held the plate in place by friction. Yay! this works well.
