These are very solid, nice, chairs. They are a bit more work to assemble, as these are not the fast bolt types (8 bolts to attach 4 legs into assembled seat pieces). Only the fully assembled from and back pieces are bolted into the seat sides. Side braces are attached using wood screws, those side braces keep the chair strong so it doesn't collapse when sitting on it due to the bolts coming loose, or uneven weight distribution causing legs to break. Weight is more evenly distribute as the dowel side braces give added strength. Lastly the seats are screwed on with wood screws.
I bought an open box set, one chair had a hairline crack in the decorative piece in the middle of the back. There was a sticky note stuck there with an arrow drawn on it saying "Crack as received." Already working on repairing it, already glued. Just have to sand and paint there. It's barely visible now, won't be when I'm done.
The seats have all the holes for the wood screws drilled, but they are incorrectly placed, which another reviewer reported finding as well.. So I'm drilling new holes in to position them correctly. Also was missing a wood screw, but the included ones don't hold the front part of the seat on, so I found two larger ones in my hardware collection that worked very well.
The finish is very nice on these, I only found one tiny area (which will be mostly hidden once the seat backs are correctly placed), where there was a splatter. The Buttermilk color is like a pale, warm, yellow. The seats are solid Cherry wood with a dark finish. They have some weight to them, and were made on Malaysia. They will be going in the small dining area in the opening of my kitchen. Table to go with them is next. I'm very happy with my purchase, 4 out of 5 stars because of the incorrectly placed holes in the seats for screwing them in, and hardware issue.. Carol. New Castle, DE. Fri Oct 20 2023
