Did a vigorous shake test and it feels very firm and sturdy; no creaking. Love how it looks, the color, texture, and shape is exactly what I expected.
I have a few minor gripes, they're not a big deal though which is why I rated it 5 stars.
The headboard assembly with the back posts and bottom brace was a pain to install by myself, several pieces have to be slotted in before you can start bolting it together, and its difficult to do while the assembly is lying flat on the ground. While trying to shuffle things around the piece that fits onto the bottom of the headboard slipped off, fell on the ground and the corner got dinged. Mostly my own fault, but just keep in mind it'll probably be much easier with a second person.
Another minor issue is that one of the slats was a bit warped, like you might see with 2x4's from a hardware store. That prevents it from lying totally flat. I'm calling this a minor gripe because I'm fairly sure it'll get pressed flat over time from the mattress and my body weight. All the finished wood that is actually visible was perfect though.
There was a scratch on one of the posts, but its barely noticeable, and it is possible I caused it when dragging pieces around on the floor. I could probably fix it for less than $5 with some wood stain, but I probably won't bother.
One other thing about the headboard assembly, it might have been because I lined things up wrong, but one of the bolts ended up having to go in at a bit of an angle. I had to use more force to get that bolt in, and I was a bit worried about stripping the hole if I ever have to disassemble and reassemble it. I think that hole might have been drilled a bit off its mark though because all the other holes on that post lined up perfectly.
All in all though, after seeing and feeling it all assembled, I think its going to last a good long time. Also, it looks great, its exactly what I wanted. Would definitely recommend it, just make sure you have a second person to help unless you're strong and used to working with your hands.. Arik. Coquitlam, Bc, Canada. Thu Jan 22 2026
