Honestly, i wish i could give a 4.5, but 4 is too low for this incredible piece of furniture so I gave it a 5. The appearance is unique as the wood has many color variations with in itself. Further, the look is complimented by the fact that this piece is solid hardwood — no veneers. The authenticity of construction adds to the appeal, it seems more like a family heirloom or a great find while antiquing than a piece ordered via the internet.
The 18x36 top allows for common bedside items to be present without creating clutter. The top two drawers are the same depth, while the lower drawer is essentially doubly thick - perfect for all of my heavy wool socks. Because this is solid hardwood, i would advise adding a drawer liner, but not a necessity. The drawers are slightly disappointing as they are designed with dados down the side where they ride. I would highly recommend a little bee’s wax or similar synthetic products to improve the feel. A little metal here could have gone a long way. Here is the thing though, drawer slides are not enough to dash the pleasure you receive when you look at this piece. I will definitely consider other pieces in this set for other rooms in the future.
Lastly the piece is packaged very well. Even with additional protection at the corners to ensure no dings along the way.. Mcm. Kentucky Lake. Sun Jul 12 2020
