When the drawer is facing the sofa, the back of the drawer cannot be seen, so it looks really sleek and clean from the other side. My only disappointment is that the top is finished in a matte acrylic. I'm sure it was done to help protect it from spills and such, but real wood (solid, no veneers) like this should have some shine to the surface. Up close, matte on real wood makes it look and feel (!) like Formica.
It's still a really good deal for the money and we're happy with it. Oh, and oddly, the drawer itself is made from solid wood and has smooth-acting metal slides, which was a nice surprise.
The originator knows how to box! It was brilliantly and economically packed and comes in three boxes; top, legs, drawer.
Your friends will think you paid a lot more for it.
