Lots of negative reviews on this one but not a lot of photos or details about what specifically was so bad so I hope this helps someone. These benches/seats are OK - for the price. I think you have to temper your expectations though. Here are the things I think might bother/disappointment some people if they weren’t expecting it: -these are pine wood, which isn’t ideal for being outside, and on top of that they’re finished with a thin coat of interior paint, and only painted on the sides you see when assembled. So they’re not going to hold up all that long outside in the elements as-is but would likely hold up a lot better if you threw a coat of exterior paint on them. -there is a run/stain coming out of all of the knots in the wood that’s very very noticeable in the white color because it has a blue hue. And there are a LOT of knots. -the hardware that it comes with is very, very cheap - think random screws without the cross hashes sunk into the head. You may need to replace or supplement hardware. -the wood pieces are pretty poorly pre-drilled, which causes uneven spacing in the slats, cracking, and splitting. -there is no way on the planet that anyone could assemble these things with the included Allen wrench/key. You need a powerful drill, a hammer, and significant muscle. -it’s a convoluted and lengthy assembly. My husband has built entire houses and everything inside from walls to furniture and it still took him a couple hours. Now the positives: -some people said they’re not strong/sturdy - I think that’s a matter of not assembling correctly. Which would be easy to do given the materials and instructions!! But if you have a person who knows what they’re doing assemble them, they feel quite sturdy to me. -I love that they’re modular! Very nice to be able to move the pieces around any way we like. Overall - they’re not great, but for the right price and given that you have a very knowledgeable handy person with good tools available to assemble them, they’re not all bad.. Angela. Medford, OR.
