Chair arrived in a very compact box, not too heavy considering the contents, well protected. Fabric is a microfiber weave type material, which we preferred, I wouldn’t call it velvet. There is more assembly than just sliding on the back as some recliners installation, but it wasn’t difficult. Instructions are pictures only so sometimes you have to analyze it a bit to understand what they are depicting but you can’t really mess it up. One thing to consider is that there is one motor so you cannot recline the back unless the leg rest is fully extended. Not a problem for us but could be a deal breaker for others. This is a narrow chair, we purchased for an elderly small person. This is not an oversized chair to allow pets and people together, that said it was perfect for our needs.
