I’ve only had this assembled since yesterday but I want to share my initial impressions. First, I can’t swear it’s leather. I can’t swear it’s not. It didn’t smell like leather when I took it out of the box. But it feels like it to the touch. Unfortunately, so does “vegan leather” or “PU leather.” I wanted leather because it is literally the only thing my cat won’t touch. So if it has claw marks on it in a couple days, I’ll know the truth. But on the other hand, if I literally can’t tell, nobody else will be able to either.
Next-it is a smaller recliner. I am 5’8” and 160 lbs. It fits me nicely but doesn’t have a ton of extra room. I don’t hang over when I recline so that’s perfect. My husband hated it after sitting in it for a few seconds. It is clearly not proportioned for a 6’2”, 240lb guy.
People complained that it’s stiff. I don’t think it’s stiff but you don’t fall into it either. So like mama bear’s chair should be, I’m calling it “just right.”
I marked it down a tick because of versatility. It is a manual recline and you do have to pop the footrest down a bit to close it. Kind of a slam. No big deal. But for reclining, you get sitting with foot down or up, or reclining way back. It doesn’t seem to have places in the middle where you can pause and semi recline, like my old one.
Overall, I’m glad I bought it. It was a returned item so I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. It came in a meh sort of packaging situation…a retaped giant box inside a bigger box. I wasn’t sure what that would be like but it was just fine. It is absolutely heavy AF. It took my husband and I some heavy lifting to get it up the stairs into my office. It looks great but of course now I want to paint the walls so it looks even better.
Really, all this to say, it was a great bargain and I’m pleased. Just don’t buy it for a big guy.. Jennifer. Bloomington, IL. Wed Jan 21 2026
