The item is made of all-natural American black walnut wood. Walnut sapwood is white and John Boos uses all of the wood. It's a tone color of the wood and the tone of the wood varies within the tree itself. Variations in the final product are not defects and therefore not covered under our warranty.

This board weighs a ton so it is extremely good quality and does not slip and slide around on the countertop. It is constructed of a beautiful cherry wood and is designed to prevent dulling of knives. The thickness is great because its surface height does not strain the back while cutting or chopping.
