Both my partner and I sat on the bench while it was fully extended and it was very study. Although it was packaged pretty well, my item still came damaged on the bottom. I wish that this dining set lived up to my low expectations, but it did not. It will take you HOURS to assemble (nearly 10hours to assemble the table and two benches). The “wood” is a cheap laminate. The entire table bows and bends in the center. The bench broke the very first time we used it when a guest sat on it. I recommend avoiding this product. Ok let's talk chairs! When using in a rental upholstery is a nightmare and solid would is so heavy. I wanted something with cushion, not bulky, easy to wipe off and would fit and move nicely in and out around the table. These are the chairs you want! They can pull off mid century, vintage or modern depending on what you are putting them with. I have been complimented on them so many times already. Absolutely perfect, would buy again!. Misty.
