I really adore this serving bowl. I chose to get it with the matching pedestal. They definitely make a statement with the gorgeous, lacquered pink in high contrast with the darker wood. They are unique and have character. Versatile, elegant and durable. The perfect size for a large salad or pasta dish to share. Definitely recommend. Price tag may be a splurge but I can imagine using this for years to come *** I updated this review from 5 to 4 stars when a month later the side cracked without any preceding events except using it twice to serve a salad and hand washing gently. This makes me concerned that this material, although beautiful, is brittle and prone to breaking.
