I struggled to give this 4 stars - i have a feeling swamp coolers in general arent very effective and we bought it for a bedroom that is above the garage that in above 100 degree temps outside, was a good 5+ degrees hotter than the rest of the upstairs - so perhaps too much of a challenge for such a system. But it definitely didnt cool the room down, though it did emit a lovely, quiet flow of air that felt slightly cooler than room temp. It was easy to put together but note - you have to plug in the little hose or it will leak everywhere when you put water in! Comes with ice packs and a remote and takes up little space. I think it would be nice to give a little extra "fan" feeling in a room, or if blowing directly in you and you keep up with the ice packs, will probably cool you better than a fan.
