We chose to get this firepit instead of one built into the patio, so that we could move it off if we needed space for multiple tables (talking crab feast here!) It’s a good size firepit and can hold quite a lot of wood. Love being able to see the fire from the sides, too. We sprayed the lid and the inside & underside of the base with fire tolerant rustoleum to help protect from rust & bought a cover for it. It does have a few rust spots already, so I’m hoping to find an oversized cover that will come all the way down the sides to see if that helps. The outer rim stays cool to the touch during a fire..
