Jefferson Wood Corbels (2), was a good buy for me.
I had originally designed for a shower glass to be installed on the wrought iron tub lip; however, due to the age of the house, the tub was on a steeper downward slope towards the drain hole than the norm... go figure. To reset the tub would have added a bigger dollar sign on this modification. When the slope was shown to me, I couldn't actually see it by eye, but the level told another story. So Wayfair here I come to find the perfect corbel as the local stores didn't carry the design I needed. I needed to find something that would smoothly transition a wall into one design.
here is where I am able to apply some creativity to trick the eye, making every angle look perfect.
The original owner had the small bathroom in pink tones. I am not a pink person, LOL.
The three walls surrounding the tub I had replaced the old pink floral wall paper with white tumbled marble tile. To separate the marble and wood paneling design , a column was placed on both sides of the tub. This made the tub appear as a separate section of a small rectangular bathroom. The corbels was installed making the actual height of 8 feet appear taller, again to trick the eye. The tile from the tub to ceiling matched the corbel. The back wall of the bathroom was wainscoted and the other side, black granite with silver accents were tiled on the entire wall. Very striking. To finish the look, Wayfair sells the bowed out curtain rod, brushed metal, allowing more room while in the shower to move around. I get so many compliments and I always say, Wayfair was a big help!
So, I placed whitetumbled tiles on the three walls from tub lip to ceiling, giving the illusion of a taller shower.
I loved the way the corbel was able to separate the look from shower/tub to the main room. I wanted to complete the transition of white marble shower wall to wainscoting in my son's bathroom. The other side was black granite against white marble on the entire wall.. Kelly. Greensboro, NC. Tue Oct 08 2024
