In the winter, if a planter is to remain planted, it should be raised up off the ground making sure not to block the drainage hole. This allows the planter to drain and will prevent the planter from freezing to the ground. If the planter is not to be planted, it should be brought inside a garage or shed. If this is not possible, follow the steps above, but turn the planter upside down to prevent it from filling with snow and ice. It should then be covered or wrapped with burlap or any absorbent material (old blanket/towel) and then wrapped with dark plastic to prevent it from accumulating moisture.

Create a beautiful accent for plants in the home or garden with this large flower pot. Featuring a hand-painted finish, this planter has the charming look of a weathered container, adding rustic character wherever placed. The linear low-density polyethylene construction gives this planter the strength and durability to handle the elements. Not only can it withstand harmful UV rays, but it can also resist cracking in cold temperatures. This planter can even be placed outside in windy locations. The double-wall construction features a space that can be filled with sand or gravel to weigh down the planter so that it stays put on gusty, blustery days. Plus, the full-depth inner wall provides insulation to protect roots from changes in temperature, so plants can grow healthier. Not only can this versatile planter be used outdoors, but it also makes a beautiful decorative piece indoors too when paired with a protective saucer.
