This goes into my beach house as a runner (actually bought two since it was a very long hall way). I have it on hardwood and bought a pad but this is a nice thick heavy pile so it stays in place on its own pretty much. I have this rug in my living room at my beach house. It looks rich and "beachy" at the same time. The stripes are stylish, fun and look great! The rug is plush. My only critism is that like every new rug that I have ever bought, it sheds for the first couple weeks. So, be sure to have a vacuum cleaner handy!. Ann. North Carolina. Mon Aug 24 2009
