This table is better in person than the pictures show. I think the packaging was sufficient to protect the table during shipping, and nothing was damaged. One thing to be careful of is the finish of this table. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it is very easy to scuff, although the scuff will only be visible if you look from a certain angle. Basically, use hotplates, place mats, table runners for dishes, and do not slide anything across the table. The wood itself is very hard, the finish is what seems fragile, so I wish it was a bit more durable.
