The fireplace is smaller than what the pics make it look like, so read the size description. It was underwhelming as is, but I knew what I was getting and had plans to beef it up. It was usable right out of the box, no assembly required. I added a shelf and built a base to make it what I wanted, but needed something small overall to fit the space. It turned out really well.
