This is way more durable and attractive than I thought it would be. I did not understand how this could be both a rug and also a surface on which a heavy desk chair could roll. It is somewhat like a giant mouse pad, with a rubber bottom that grips our hardwood floors, and a soft, cloth like surface that does not snag on my desk chair’s casters. We’ve been looking for something to replace the rubber mat under our office chair couldn’t really find anything and then saw this and it worked out beautifully. It doesn’t bunch up and their instructions say that it’s machine washable, which will be great when it’s time to get it clean her favorite part still is it doesn’t move around. I ordered these chair mats recently and was a little surprised that they felt pretty cold when they arrived. If you’re ordering during the winter, I’d recommend letting them sit at room temperature for a while before unrolling them. Once they warmed up and I followed the instructions, they flattened out without any issues. So far they’ve been working really well. My chair glides smoothly on the carpet now, which is a big improvement from before. They also look nice and are easy to wipe clean, so maintenance has been simple.
